Task Types

Learn about the four types of tasks for uploading data, taking surveys, deliverables, and general tasks.

There are four task types in Tablecloth.

  • Data
  • Survey
  • Deliverable
  • General

Here’s some detail on each type and why we classify them separately.

Note: This page tells you about the difference between our tasks types and why we use them. For detailed walkthroughs of Data and Survey tasks visit walkthrough the links below:

Data Tasks

(Not applicable for Base ESG)

Data tasks are those where we collect data from you in the form of spreadsheets that you upload to a form. These are tailored to the data model you are using.

For example, in the Employee data model, you would upload data from your HR system such as employee demographics and payroll reports. Visit the help doc on uploading data to get a deeper understanding of data tasks.

Survey Tasks

Survey tasks are just as you would expect: surveys in which you fill out responses to questions being asked about your company. Survey tasks can be assigned to one or more people to fill out.

Visit the help doc on taking surveys to get a deeper understanding of Survey tasks.

Deliverable Tasks

(Not applicable for Base ESG)

Deliverable tasks are tasks for Tablecloth. We like to give you transparency into our work as well. While you won’t be assigned to deliverable tasks, you may want to follow along to see how we are doing at completing our side of the Impact and ESG Measurement collaboration we share.

Some examples of deliverable tasks are Dashboards, Custom Reports, Analysis, Presentations, Custom Research, Companion Pieces and Milestones.

As someone who has visibility into our work you may want to leave comments or edit the summary, for example, when reviewing our work. It is common, for example, to review a dashboard, provide feedback on the deliverable task, and track updates there.

General Tasks

General Tasks are a catch-all for other types of to-dos for you and your organization. General tasks allow us to assign to-dos that aren’t necessarily a part of the measurement or reporting process but instead help us track supporting work that also needs to get done.

Here are a few examples of General Tasks:

  • Track your internal goals and milestones
  • Organize assets for review
  • Read up on issues important to the organization
  • Set up a meeting
  • Deadlines (for AGMs for example)
